JUST THE TIP!
Tipping your tattoo artist is not required, but it’s a great way to show appreciation for a job well done. When you’re already investing a few hundred dollars on your new body art, you may think it’s unreasonable for you to tip the artist as well. Keep in mind, the artist usually only gets a percentage of the actual cost of the tattoo; most of it goes to the studio to pay for supplies and to provide them a clean, safe place to perform the tattoo procedure. Most tattoo artists are like everyone else with bills to pay, families to feed, and a gas tank that needs to be filled so they can drive to work and can really use a little extra cash. Which brings us to answers to commonly asked questions:
How much should you tip? It’s customary to tip 18-20 percent, but any amount you can afford is appreciated.
How should you tip? Cash is king!
When should you tip? You can tip before starting the tattoo if you think you’ll forget by the time your tattoo is complete; or you can wait until your tattoo is finished.
